now

Life
After a summer of fiercely developing Bar total and Ung i Världen, I am back in Umeå for my university studies in Computing Science. I am currently taking courses in fundamental logic and C programming in a Unix environment. In addition to studying I’m working 28% as amanuensis, assisting and mentoring a course in introductory C programming.
We have adopted Fio, a lion headed rabbit, from my girlfriends family (who had accidental babies a while back). He is really cute but a bit dismissive of his potty training and has already been to the vet for eating avocado (very toxic to rabbits, tho he was fine).
Projects
My personal projects, including this blog, are somewhat hibernating as of now, but some of my excess energy still goes into writing for Bar Total (in Swedish).
Last weekend I also held my first Dj set b2b with a friend at the student reception for the architectural programme. We performed dnb as ‘the Kidneys’: one of us is enough, but you do not want to loose both… I might put out my set list here if I have the time.
A new sticker is under way and Bar Total stickers are already here!
As always, I am still taking a picture of my face every day, though I am a year behind on stabilising the pictures… so should really get on that.
Currently reading
I haven’t really read that much as of late sadly.
My girlfriend and I have discussed starting to read some actual philosophy books, although we are not really sure were to start. Please send me a tip if you know a good entry point. Otherwise it is a possibility the urge will die before we actually start reading.

Connecting
Further efforts to connect with others have lead me to join the lainchan webring which I found really up my alley.
I joined March’s Lainchan Web Festival with a post on the theme nature, and submitted my post Crying out to February’s Indie Web Carnival even though I had already written it in January… Writing collectively like this is fun and I will try to keep participating in Festi-/Carnivals like these.
Drawing
Since I got a new drawing tablet for my birthday I’ve started (trying) to draw digitally more often. Here are some drawings: 02-27, 03-01, 03-07, 03-15.
Updating
Maintenance of randomantagning.se is always looming over me since it needs regular updates at least every semester before the period of uni applications starts. The code is really messy and I finally rewrote it just a little to update the site more easily. However there is still much room for automation and optimization.
As always I am continuously updating this blog and taking a picture of my face every day.
Collecting
I am collecting songs to dj with, and plan to add a directory of my tracks to this site. My lainring neighbour Nihilist has a really nice online radio which you should check out!
I have also started gathering links to good blog posts and references. Here are some interesting ones I’ve recently been…
Reading about
That last one, I referenced in Organizing ideas and I can announce that although I am still very scattered and avoiding any responsibilities, I have mildly successfully organized myself to focus one a smaller amount of things at a time. Right now my points of focus (except for uni courses) are note taking and drawing and recently updating randomantagning as well as gathering some music.
Akin to the articles on Metamodernism and Great work, I’m currently interested in are how new ideas come about and how we collectively explore reality, as well as how we can use our knowledge to the best of our ability to solve many problems facing Earth’s living organisms.

Posted on:2024-02-06In the spirit of NowNowNow here is my first update of what I am doing /now!
Since August 2023 I am living in Umeå studying Computer Science. It was a rough time of only calculus from October until recently and now I am chilling out with data structures and discrete maths.
For long, I have felt like writing and eventually got around to setting up this blog where I can write posts in markdown (as opposed to my earlier html blog). I have started using Obsidian to jot down thoughts. Writing them out really helps me think through and concretize the vague ideas spinning round my head.
Some recent thoughts
I have also started reading other people’s blogs and generally browsing the internet more. Reading a blog for entertainment makes me feel much better than watching youtube or something which I used to do much more. Reading blogs is also better for learning new things and it just generally gets me excited!
A lot of what I read is about retaking the web & making it cheap, finding ones place in the world, blogging / digital gardening, interconnectedness & solarpunk sustainability.
Inspirations right now
- Henrik Karlsson, swedish (like me!) writing interesting thoughts
- Erelend, norweigan neighbor and indie web bonfire builder
- TodePond, genre and gender bending coder / videomaker
- Maggie Appleton, tends a digital garden of fantastic quality
Mostly I still spend my time developing the blog. However, I would like to get back to working on my Rave simulator game as well as drawing more. As always, I am still taking a picture of my face every day.
